Many CCFs choose to tun the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme. This is a fun, challenging and rewarding programme, which results in a recognised qualification. At present, there are almost 300,000 young people undertaking their DofE in the UK, some of who do it through the Combined Cadet Force. Many of the activities cadets already take part in on CCF parade evenings can be counted towards the Award, which is highly valued by employers, colleges and universities. There are three levels to the Award, which are available to cadets:
Bronze (14+ years old)
Silver (15+ years old)
Gold (16+ years old)
DofE Participants can undertake their volunteering, skills, physical, expedition and residential sections by counting a large amount of the activities which they are already undertaking within the CCF or through any other hobbies and interests they may have outside cadets. There are many exciting activities cadets can undertake during their time in the CCF which can also be part or fully counted towards their DofE such as skill at arms and marksmanship, adventurous training courses, and sports training.
