Duke of Westminster Award 2017
Posted on November 08, 2016
The CVQO Duke of Westminster Award is designed to find and recognise the finest CVQO learners from across the UK. It’s not just about being a great cadet – the organisation are looking for selfless, determined individuals who always keep their heads up and remain positive through adversity; those who have overcome a personal challenge or gone the distance to help someone.
Nominations open in two weeks time, so start thinking now about who might make a good candidate from your contingent! Each CCF contingent (or squadron/company/sea cadet unit for the community cadets) can nominate one one individual, who must be over 16 on 1 September 2016 and under 19 on 1 September 2017. They must also be enrolled on, or have completed, a CVQO-led qualification - however those are the only eligibility criteria.
Nominations will marked by CVQO in mid-January, at which point a further challenge will be sent out to successful nominees. The stage two submissions will be judged in mid-February, at which point the best candidates will be invited to a selection event in Somerset, in April. The ultimate successful candidates at this selection event, will be invited to a House of Lords lunch, followed by a two week trip to South Africa in July.
