Sixth Form cadets at Exeter School helped guarantee a successful inspection when they planned a scenario designed to showcase the team’s skills.

Contingent Commander Cdr Geoff Chapman PhD RN said: "The inspection went extremely well and the Inspecting Officer was impressed with the range of activities she saw which were planned and delivered by the Upper Sixth.

"My congratulations and thanks to all the cadets and staff for helping to make it such a successful inspection."

The scenario involved cadets being deployed to assist with disaster relief after an earthquake in Ecuador. The Lower Sixth worked together on a table top exercise designed to develop their teamwork sills and finished by presenting their solutions to their peers. Meanwhile, the Middle Fifth and Upper Fifth practised first aid, physical skills and team-working in a practical context.

A number of awards were made at the end of the inspection during a formal parade including one in memory of alumnus Jack Sadler who was killed in Afghanistan.

“We use it to acknowledge exceptional service, commitment and personal qualities embodied by Jack,” said Dr Chapman. “This year I was delighted to announce that the recipient is Flight Sgt Meredith Marsh of the RAF section who has been an excellent Head of RAF Section this year.”
