CCF Headteachers' Conference 2019

The Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for School Standards, gave the opening keynote address in front of over 200 delegates at this year's Conference.

The Minister talked about the importance of all young people having opportunities to develop the key character traits they need to thrive and succeed in adult life. 

Speaking about the Government's commitment to expand the number of cadets in CCF state school units, the Minister talked about the benefits that the CCF delivers for both cadets and their instructors and thanked the school staff who volunteer to deliver cadet activities.

This year's Conference featured talks on the cadet experience from Neil Hutchinson, Headteacher at Royton & Crompton School in Oldham; Mike Smith, Headteacher at Phoenix Collegiate Academy in West Bromwich and Clare Verga, Executive Principal at the City of London Academy, Islington and Highbury Grove School. 

Delegates also took part in workshops on a range of topics including: measuring the social and educational impact of the cadet programme; the role and importance of the School Staff Instructor; establishing a new contingent; safeguarding; and ensuring the long-term viability of contingents.
