Job Vacancy: SSI Queen Elizabeth’s School

Posted on August 19, 2019

One of the country’s leading academic schools, Queen Elizabeth’s Barnet blends a distinctive heritage and proud traditions with an innovative, forward-looking approach to providing a state education like no other to 1,250 boys aged 11-18. Queen Elizabeth’s is one of relatively few state schools in the UK to have a Combined Cadet Force (CCF). Established in 1992, ours is sponsored by the Corps of Royal Engineers, with the Regular Army providing support in training and administration.

We have a vacancy for a part-time SSI. Pupils apply to join the CCF in Year 9 and many go on to take CCF leadership responsibilities in their senior years at the School. They enjoy a wide variety of activities including overnight camps, expeditions and extensive training.

The SSI is responsible for the routine administration of the CCF under the direction of the Contingent Commander. The post holder is expected to live up to the values and standards of the UK military as well as those of the School. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and communication skills, be flexible, highly organised with a professional attitude and enjoy working within a busy school community. Competent IT/keyboard and administrative skills are required.

There will be the opportunity to undergo further training. Further information and an application form can be obtained on our website or from the Headmaster’s office.

Closing date:  0830 hours (GMT) on Monday 30 September 2019. Applications will be assessed as they are received and interviews may occur at any stage during the recruitment process.

Queen Elizabeth’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service. We are an equal opportunities employer.
