The visit provided a great opportunity for cadets to see the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and talk to the Merlin crew. The school opened up the visit to a wider audience through collaboration with 2292 Market Rasen Squadron Air Training Corps and Elizabethan Academy Combined Cadet Force (195 Grimsby ATC and 1228 Louth ATC were also invited but could not attend).

Contingent Commander Paul Reeve commented that the visit "provided one of those 'once in a lifetime'” opportunities that only being a member of the Cadet Forces can bring about and it will be talked about forever by those involved." Paul added that his favourite quote of the day was from Sgt Trafford (CTST) who said of the cadets, "their smiles were as wide as the M62".
