The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at Abingdon School is celebrating the remarkable achievements of two of its cadets, as Cadet Sergeant Zach Broad and Cadet Sergeant Jay Cabell have been awarded prestigious Army Scholarships.
This honour not only secures them a coveted place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for officer training but also offers valuable financial support during their final year at Abingdon and throughout their university courses.
Zach and Jay's achievement is particularly noteworthy as it marks a rare occurrence for the Abingdon CCF, with two cadets securing these scholarships in the same year. This success continues a remarkable trend, with seven Abingdon CCF cadets earning Army Scholarships in the last seven years.
Over 100 candidates from various backgrounds competed vigorously for these coveted scholarships. The selection process was nothing short of rigorous, involving online interviews and a challenging essay submission. Following this initial stage, the candidates faced a gruelling two-day assessment designed to evaluate their physical fitness, problem-solving capabilities, leadership qualities, and team-building skills.
