Can you name UK Space Command’s new headquarters?
UK Space Command are inviting Sea Cadets, Army Cadets and Air Cadets across the country to name the new headquarters of UK Space Command.
UK Space Command was formed this year. It’s a Joint Command, with personnel from the Royal Navy, British Army, and the Royal Air Force. When fully operational, it will command and control all the UK’s defence capabilities in space.
Your mission is to name it! UK Space Command would like that name to come from our fantastic Cadet Forces.
Some instructions:
- One nomination per unit
- One proposed name per unit
- Provide some justification for the proposed name
The winning unit will be invited to attend the naming ceremony at the new headquarters at RAF High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, as well as a visit to RAF Fylingdales in North Yorkshire. (RAF Fylingdales is part of the Space Surveillance Network – its radar can detect an object the size of a drinks can up to 3,000 miles into space)
The deadline for nominations is Friday 17 December 2021. The announcement of the winner will be made in January 2021.
