Each year, CVQO gives cadets from across all of the cadet forces a chance to attend its exciting residential leadership course, in Somerset. The challenging, week-long course will run between 24 – 28 October at the headquarters of CVQO’s adventure and leadership training partner, Outposts, in the Quantock Hills in Somerset.

Cadets will complete an internationally recognised ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management qualification. Through a combination of taught and practical based sessions, cadets will learn the fundamental concepts of being a leader and manager and complete a range of command tasks to demonstrate their skills. This course, combined with their experience of leading others in their youth organisation will enable the cadet to complete their assignment workbook in order to achieve the qualification.

Cadets will be led by expert instructors from Outposts for the practical components, with CVQO staff delivering the course content.

The course is offered by CVQO free of charge and open to cadets of all services. Cadets are expected to complete the necessary work to achieve the ILM qualification. Places for the course are extremely limited with space for only 48 cadets.

Nominated cadets must:

  • be over 17 and under 19 on 1 Sept 2016
  • have passed a Level 2 qualification in English (e.g. GCSE or equivalent)
  • be able to swim 50 metres in light clothing

For full details, and to apply, visit the CVQO website. Each Contingent may nominate one first choice, and up to two reserve cadets.
