Congratulations to CCF Cadet Sergeant Jessica Fowler who was presented with her Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet certificate at Surrey Lord Lieutenant’s Awards on the 24th of September.
During the ceremony held at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Neelam Devesher MBE DL, awarded 7 Meritorious Service Certificates from across all 3 Services, 1 Best Reservist Award kindly sponsored by CGI, 4 Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets and 1 Best Tri-Service Cadet Award sponsored by Cadet Direct were appointed.
Cadet Sergeant Fowler was previously presented with her Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet badge during Army Camp in Kent by Brigadier Jonathan Mullin MBE, the CCF Link Trustee for Gordon’s School.
The position is for outstanding service, dedication and ability to act as an ambassador for the youth of Surrey. A Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet assists the Lord-Lieutenant when required, often on parade for Royal visits.
We spoke to Jessica at the ceremony and she was excited to share her reaction but also to motivate other CCF cadets.
How do you feel about receiving your certificate?
"It was incredible. It is a reminder of everything you’ve done, which I don’t really think about too much at the time. It’s nice to hear it back at how much I have done and see that it means something."
It’s a new academic year and there’s lots of cadets joining and looking to follow in your footsteps, what’s your advice?
"Give it your all. Throw yourself in, any opportunity you’re given - take it. Even if you think you won’t enjoy something, you’ll look back on it and still think I’m glad I did it. Because it’s the memories you make, the people you meet, the friendships you form, it’s everything you do, it’s not just what you’re doing it’s the people you’re with and the connections you make. It’s brilliant. No matter what you do, it’s brilliant."
A phenomenal achievement Jessica, we're so proud of you - a dedicated cadet and an inspirational role model!
Imagine being a Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet.
We could be congratulating you in years to come!
