Cadets from Brentwood School CCF, Nottingham High School CCF and St Edmunds College CCF came together for an action-packed week. From getting up close and personal with a Hawk T2 to adventurous training, drill practice, team games of Dodgeball and vital lessons from the fire section, our cadets have had a fun-filled, exciting time.
Life in the Fast Lane at RAF Valley Camp
This week, 26 cadets from across three Combined Cadet Force (CCF) schools attended RAF Valley in Anglesey. Working together as a team, the cadets have been able to experience firsthand what life is like at the RAF’s fast jet training facility.
Exploring the Opportunities
The camps are often a firm favourite of the cadets. Cpl North from Brentwood School CCF RAF comments “the opportunities I've been given, whether that is doing courses with the Air Training Corps (ATC) or going on camps like RAF Valley, I get to see really cool planes and meet future pilots and learn about their training. So I now know more for future reference. My overall goal of what I want to get out of cadets is to become a good leader, which is very helpful in the workplace and after cadets. And to understand more about the RAF, as it is a potential future job option for me.”
Working Together as a Team
Wing Commander Singh, Camp Commandant for RAF Valley and Contingent Commander for Brentwood School CCF comments “It is my pleasure to be Camp Commandant of the CCF RAF Valley camp. We have 26 cadets here from three different schools this week and we are at a frontline RAF station. There is fast jet training taking place and the cadets have been able to go and see the sections. They will see the Texan unit, the Hawkes and the fire section, as well as other sections on base. This week, the cadets have also had the opportunity to meet base personnel and learn about life in the RAF from a firsthand perspective. There aren’t many opportunities for cadets to do this, so to do this at a frontline station is special for them. They have been working well together in teams and have had the opportunity to learn from each other and also learn together and develop their own personal skills and enhance their interest in the RAF.”
