Anthony who holds the rank of Flight Lieutenant and commands the school’s RAF section of the CCF, was presented with a Meritorious Award in recognition of training cadets by Kent’s Lord Lieutenant Viscount De L’Isle MBE at a recent ceremony in Tunbridge Wells.

He has taught physics at the Dover school for 15 years, and joined the CCF in 2004 – commanding the RAF section from 2014. Thanks to Anthony’s passion for the CCF, the school was presented with an RAF Platinum recruiting award in 2015 in appreciation of the quality of cadets who went on to join the RAF.

At the same ceremony, Cadet Sergeant Holly Howell and Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Ayomide Adelusola, both 17, received Cadet of the Year awards for outstanding service. They have taken key roles with the school’s CCF and shown impressive leadership qualities alongside numerous personal achievements. Each of them will accompany the Lord Lieutenant at official engagements during the year.

Lieutenant Colonel Steven Saunderson, the school’s Officer Commanding, said: “The Meritorious Service award affords public recognition to those members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces whose efforts are not recognised by the Honours Lists. Needless to say, we are immensely proud of Anthony for his dedication to our CCF and for gaining this award.

“It is also extremely gratifying to have two of our students gaining Cadet of the Year awards. Holly and Ayomide have shown great dedication and achieved much during their time with our CCF.”
