Senior cadets and the SSI from Montsaye Academy CCF raised over £600 for their newly opened local branch of the RBL in Rothwell Northampton recently.

After completing 8 hours of training they took to the sky in it light aircraft and solo jumped at 3500ft!

Some of the cadets are scared of heights but overcame their fears and jumped. One cadet even seized the opportunity and tandem jumped at 13000 ft with a member of the Red Devils!

The event was enjoyed by all and some even jumped twice. All cadets that jumped earned the Army Cadet Parachuting badge and are ambassadors for their contingent, school and their community.

Today was the greatest day of my life. I have never been in an airplane and now I can say that, each time I have flown I have had to jump out of the plane.

Speaking after the event, SSI 2Lt Mark Chattaway, said, "Watching the cadets grow in self-confidence, from shy children to motivated, determined young adults who have the focus to learn to parachute is a pleasure to witness. I’m immensely proud of what they have achieved. The CCF gives the children opportunities and life skills not usually obtainable in normal walks of life and today has shown what level of confidence cadets can achieve.”
