Penistone Grammar School Cadet Honoured for Heroic Actions

Eli’s mother, Liz Eardley, recounted the events in a heartfelt letter to the school, expressing immense pride and gratitude for her son’s courage and maturity during a frightening experience. She described how she suffered a severe allergic reaction to medication that quickly escalated into an anaphylactic shock. Without hesitation, Eli took control of the situation.

“He called emergency services, stayed with me, and was reassuring and collected. He communicated effectively with the 999 operator and paramedics in a very grown-up manner.”

In addition to managing the crisis, Eli ensured his younger brother felt supported and safe throughout the ordeal. “He showed me how grown up he is, even under pressure,” she added.

Mrs Eardley extended her thanks to the school’s Combined Cadet Force program, highlighting how Eli's training played a significant role in his ability to handle such a situation confidently. She noted that the skills he developed through the cadet program, especially in the medical field, contributed to his effective response during the emergency.

The CCF and I’m sure his family, are very proud of Eli for his actions. His quick thinking and calm demeanour in a crisis made a huge difference to him and his family, and we hope all are recovering well.
