A shining example of the CCF's commitment to leadership, service, and skill is Tonbridge School CCF, whose recent Annual General Inspection (AGI) on Wednesday 19 March was a testament to everything the CCF stands for.
This year’s AGI was graced by the presence of Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Gilbert QVRM TD DL VR as the Inspecting Officer—a distinguished guest who brought a wealth of experience and insight to the day. The inspection began with an exceptional parade on the Quad, featuring all three sections of the contingent. It was a moment of immense pride for the cadets, led by Cadet RSM Jones, the cadets executed their drills with outstanding professionalism and sharpness. The Honour Guard in particular left a lasting impression, embodying the discipline and teamwork at the heart of the CCF.
Adding to the grandeur of the day was a stunning performance by the Band of the Scots Guards, whose music provided a ceremonial atmosphere befitting the occasion. Beyond the parade, the band also delivered a masterclass to cadets, offering them a rare opportunity to learn from one of the British Army’s most prestigious musical units.
The inspection day was packed with engaging and skill-building activities that showcased the diverse opportunities the CCF provides. Cadets participated in laser tag, clay pigeon shooting, room clearance exercises, fieldcraft, and more. The contingent also welcomed visits from Kent Fire & Rescue, Kent Police, and the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (PWRR), giving cadets the chance to engage directly with emergency services and military professionals.
