His Royal Highness was acting in his role as Captain General of the Royal Marines, in which he attended a parade on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace to mark the finale of the 1664 Global Challenge.
Cadets from Dame Allan’s School, Giggleswick School and Ernest Bevin College CCFs attended the parade alongside WO2 Mark Stuckey from CCF RN HQ.
The cadets were amongst veterans and serving Royal Marines who had the chance to march and salute the Captain General.
The event was held to mark the conclusion of the 1664 Global Challenge which has been raising funds and awareness for the Royal Marines Charity.
The challenge marked the symbolic significance of 1664 as the year in which the Corps was founded and has seen 1,500 Royal Marines and Army Commandos take part in a 1,664 mile run and extreme events including a 34 mile swim underwater and a company of Royal Marines lifting 24,000 tonnes and running 10,000km over 20 days.
