This iconic event, led by the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), brought together cadets from across the Royal Navy Cadet Forces (RNCF), including representatives from the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and the Volunteer Cadet Corps (VCC).
Collectively, these three Ministry of Defence-sponsored organisations form the Royal Navy Cadet Forces, now united under the leadership of Brigadier Ged Salzano RM, the inaugural 1-star Commander for the RNCF. The event also saw active support from Cdr Russ Haines RN, the Commanding Officer of the RN/RM CCF.
Westcliff High School for Boys Represents the CCF
This year, the Westcliff High School for Boys RN CCF Section proudly represented the CCF at the prestigious parade. Under the leadership of SLt Hadley, the cadets embarked on a rigorous three-day training program before taking part in the ceremonial march.
The event began with the cadets assembling at the Horse Guards Parade, followed by a march into Trafalgar Square for the commemorative ceremony. After paying tribute to the legacy of Admiral Lord Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar, the parade continued past Buckingham Palace and concluded at Wellington Barracks.
For the cadets, this was not just a day of marching—it was a meaningful opportunity to honour naval history, build camaraderie, and experience the pride of representing their section on a national stage. A representative from Westcliff CCF shared that the cadets “thoroughly enjoyed the day of remembrance and marching alongside other sections from across the country.”
A Memorable Tribute to Naval Heritage
The National Trafalgar Day Parade serves as an annual reminder of the bravery and leadership exemplified during the Battle of Trafalgar, and this year’s event was no exception. The dedication and professionalism of the Royal Navy Cadet Forces, particularly the Westcliff CCF cadets, highlighted the vital role cadet organisations play in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a deep respect for naval traditions.
Congratulations to all who participated in this remarkable event, and a special thank you to the leaders and organisers who made it possible!
