Taking place at The Royal British Legion in Solihull, the event involved Sgt Doyle competing in The Farmer’s Weight Carry Shuttle Walk, where he had to carry 20kg in each hand whilst walking 30 feet in 20 minutes.

Reaching Your Goals

The aim of this event was for Sgt Doyle to achieve his 1000th physical fitness challenge. In doing so, the former Paratrooper and World Record holder is now the first Great Britain (GB) endurance athlete to gain this title globally. In front of a roaring crowd, Sgt Doyle was able to walk 92 lengths in under 20 minutes, beating the record previously held of 60 lengths.

Speaking at the event, Sgt Doyle commented “It is an honour to be the first GB endurance athlete to achieve this title. I hope in undertaking physical challenges like this, it can inspire my cadets by showing them how determination and having physical and mental resilience can help in setting and working towards challenging goals.”

Some of Sgt Doyle’s previous accomplishments include being the World Record holder for the most press ups whilst carrying a steel plate on his back, as well as mountain biking cross country whilst carrying a 40lb backpack in under 15 minutes.

Years in The Making

The event was the accumulation of over 40 years in the making. Sgt Doyle described his determination and attitude as ‘never going to the wall,’ and never giving up. As well as being a personal milestone for Sgt Doyle, he was also raising vital funds for Support Our Paras, which is the official charity of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces.

Sgt Doyle has been with the CCF (RAF) for just over 3 years and is now a CFAV at The Streetly Academy, where he delivers fieldcraft outdoor activities, drill and theory elements. Sgt Doyle is a former cadet himself, where he once represented the West Midlands cadet force in cross country, winning gold in the Cadet Championships. As well as being a former Paratrooper (having served in the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment), he was also an RAF Reservist for RAF Reserves Squadron, 4624 Squadron and 605 Squadron.

An Inspiration for Cadets

Sgt Doyle hopes he will further inspire his cadets to step out of their comfort zones and try something new. “Reaching my 1000th challenge milestone was a surreal moment – it was the result of years of hard work and mental and physical pain. However, the spirit of teamwork, creating memories along the way and seeing how others have overcome their own battles was extremely inspiring. I hope I have shown my cadets the positive impact of sports, sporting challenges and setting goals and how never giving up can help you to achieve your dreams. Completing my 1000th fitness challenge was an emotional moment for me – it is an honour to achieve this and to be the first GB endurance athlete to have completed this across 13 different sporting categories. I’d like to thank my truly magnificent team for being so encouraging and for their immense support throughout the years.”

Sgt Doyle is now looking forward to 2026, where he is aiming to beat and set more World Records and complete more physical fitness challenges.

Congratulations Sgt Doyle on such a fantastic achievement!
