Applications Have Now Closed

Earlier this year, adventurer, television personality and Army Cadets National Ambassador Jordan Wylie MBE launched Xtreme Everest, an ambitious expedition that will see him travel from the lowest point on Earth to the highest. Applications from Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Army section cadets and adult volunteers have now closed, with the selection process currently underway. Successful applicants will hear from the selection committee during the summer with details of the next steps in the process.

If you have any questions about the expedition or the application process, please refer to this webpage.

A Journey from the Lowest Point to the Highest

The project will take Jordan from the Dead Sea, 430 metres below sea level, across land and sea to Nepal, before his planned 2028 summit attempt of Mount Everest at 8,848 metres. Along the way, 10 cadets from across the United Kingdom, including one from each region as well as Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, will take part in a fully funded trek to Everest Base Camp. The selected cadets will not attempt to climb Mount Everest, but instead will complete the iconic Base Camp trek while developing valuable life skills. The expedition was created to inspire young people, build confidence and resilience, and provide opportunities that many may never otherwise experience.

Speaking when the expedition launched, Jordan said:

“This is about more than reaching the top of the world. It’s about helping others realise what they’re capable of. We will be opening the doors to opportunity for those young people from the most challenging backgrounds and some of the hardest to reach areas across the UK.”

An Unforgettable Experience

The successful cadets will take part in:

  • A fully funded trek from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp.
  • First-hand experience of a world-class expedition environment.
  • Opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork and resilience.

The expedition is designed to provide far more than an adventure. It will challenge participants physically and mentally while helping them develop confidence, determination and skills that will benefit them long after they return home.

Inspiring the Wider Cadet Community

Although only 10 cadets will travel to Nepal, the wider CCF Army cadet community will also be able to follow the journey through educational content, leadership lessons and behind-the-scenes updates as the expedition progresses. The project also aims to challenge common misconceptions about the cadet experience, highlighting that the CCF Army section offers young people opportunities to develop personally through adventure, leadership, and teamwork. It is not a recruitment pathway into the Army, but a youth organisation focused on helping young people reach their full potential. Over the next two years, Jordan will continue his preparations with extensive training across the United Kingdom, the Alps and the Himalayas before attempting to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 2028.

Supporting Life-Changing Opportunities

Xtreme Everest is raising funds for the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK (ACCT UK), helping to provide life-changing opportunities for cadets across the United Kingdom. The expedition is supported by headline partner Dyno-Rod, following its successful partnership with Jordan’s Antarctica expedition, alongside additional support from other sponsors, including cadet trek partner The Ulysses Trust.
