Defence and aerospace company, Northrop Grumman, is inviting all CCF contingents to get involved with one of their flagship STEM programmes; CyberCenturion. It’s a cyber defence competition that offers young people the chance to experience simulated real world cyber security threats whilst battling against other groups of young people from across the UK.

It’s open to 12-18 year olds and this year cadets are being encouraged to take part.

The competition runs during the academic year and begins with a series of rounds played virtually during Autumn/Winter. These are preceded by practice rounds which begin in September 2017.

Teams should consist of 4 players, plus a reserve, and support from a responsible adult to take on the role of Team Leader, who will have access to training materials and live online support from the CyberCenturion HQ.

The top scoring teams will then be invited to join the face-to-face national finals in London in March 2018, where after four hours of intense competition against the clock, the winning team will be announced.

CyberCenturion opens the way for students aged 12-18 to consider future careers and academic opportunities in cyber security and aims to inspire them to fulfil their ambitions whilst giving them access to experienced industry experts and training to achieve their goals.

It can be played inside or outside the school environment, and competing only requires a responsible adult to help manage the team and a good internet connection!

The closing date for entries is Friday 6 October 2017. To enter or for more information visit the CyberCenturion website or email: Cyber.Centurion@euro.ngc.com
